"I'm Excited" says Finnerty

Steelers head coach Ryan Finnerty says he "excited" about the prospects of new signing Steve Goertzen playing for the club next season

"You have to be" he said, speaking from the Arena offices this morning "when his name came my way i got excited and that just continued with the dealings we had with him and his agent

"This is a player with a career ahead of him at just 28. It's a player who is with us for two seasons at the very least

"Having his experience and ability here will help us short and long term. As I said in the media release, you don't play where he has for as long as he has without being a special player. He will do everything well, and he will do it hard and fast.

"I laughed this morning when I read a comment on one of the forums about him having to change his game. He better not try and change it, its a conversation I have already had with him. I want that same Steve Goertzen who played in the NHL and AHL playing for us in the Elite League next year. I don't want him to change, I don't want him to try and become something he isn't

"I want him being hard nosed, finishing his checks hard, playing in all three zones and working hard. I don't need him to score 30 goals. I need him doing what he does best and what he has done his whole career. He is more than happy with that too"
