Finnerty on Pecker

Recommendations Came No Higher for New Signing pecker
On paper it looks like the Steelers have signed one of the superstars of the Elite League in Cory Pecker but it wasn't just the paper resume of the high scoring forward it was the recommendations that came from some of those who had coached him before.
"You only have to look at peckers career, his stats, where he has played and you know he is a good player and one that would help us" said Finnerty "but like with every player you want to do your homework and find out as much as you can about a man we hope will be a star and a leader of our club.
"We spoke with former team mates and coaches including Sean Simpson who coaches the Swiss National Team, he had coached and seen Pecker play a huge amount and we got a great read on him. We were told that he was a character person and player, a hugely skilled forward who would generate offence for us this coming year
"When you hear the words "he can score in any league in the world" you know you have to try and complete this deal and make it happen
"What also impressed me in my talks with Cory was that he didn't see coming to Britain as anything below him. He wanted and relishes the challenge. I expect big things from him, Im excited about the prospect of his being with us"
