Sheffield Steelers 2-4 Cardiff Devils

The Sheffield Steelers went down at home for their opening game of the 2012-13 Elite League Season.
After losing the first period to a Max Birbraer strike the Steelers hit back in the middle period with Drew Fata (powerplay) and Lee Esders putting Ryan Finnerty's side ahead at the break.
It was even for two period with both goalies making important saves, Phill Osaer saved well off a Shawn Limpright breakaway whilst John DeCaro denied both Max Faulkner and Chris Blight.
With Limpright in the penalty box the Devils struck early in the third period on the powerplay to tie the game through Phill Hill. Steelers summer target Stuart MacRae then beat DeCaro for the game winner and Ben Davies scored a 4th to rub salt into the Steelers wounds.
