Ivan Björkly-Nordström has signed a two-year professional contract with the Sheffield Steelers, stepping up full-time to the Elite League after a standout spell with the Steeldogs under head coach Slava Koulikov.

The skilled forward joined Sheffield from Peterborough, where he made a strong impact in the NIHL, and quickly became a fan favourite in his first season with the Dogs.

Originally from Edinburgh and developed in Sweden, Ivan brings a blend of European flair and physical strength to the line-up. After successful spells with Linköping, Malmö and AIK junior programmes, he made the move into British hockey with the Peterborough Phantoms before excelling in Sheffield colours.

A key success story of the Steeldogs’ 2-way programme, Ivan earned his opportunity with the Steelers through consistent high-level performances, securing call-ups to the Elite League side last season and now making the full-time transition to the professional ranks.

He now looks ahead to establishing himself at the top level and continuing his development as part of the Steelers organisation.
