Two more years in orange for defenceman Dominic Cormier, who extended his stay with the club by signing a new contract this summer.
Cormier arrived in Sheffield partway through the Grand Slam season of 2023–24 and was an instant success both that year and last, with performances earning him an All-Star selection among all Elite League defencemen.
An ever-present last season, Dom played in all 54 league games, 12 Cup games, and 8 Champions League fixtures.
Dom has played in 126 EIHL games, scoring 15 goals and 80 points.
Prior to Sheffield, Dominic joined the Steelers from Norwegian side Stjernen Hockey.
That wasn’t Dom’s first European experience, having concluded the previous year with HC Banská Bystrica in Slovakia after starting the year with the Reading Royals in the ECHL.
Head Coach Aaron Fox spoke about the return of Dominic Cormier:
“Corms is back on a two-year deal and has been fantastic for us from the moment he showed up.
“He is an elite-skating and puck-moving D who has been a huge point producer for us. With how fast we want to play, he’s a perfect fit in our system and has really bought into what we do.
“Dom played the majority of the year with Joona, and they were excellent together. To get him locked in for two years is great for us as a group.”
