25-year-old Finnish winger Mikko Juusola was one of the club’s final signing announcements in the summer of 2023.

Juusola arrived from a spell with HC Energie Karlovy Vary in Czechia; however, prior to that, Mikko had never left his home country, Finland.

Mikko played his junior hockey (up to U20) with Kärpät before moving to KalPa for a four-year spell, which saw him play for the Finnish national side at the U20 level.

In 2019, a move to the pro ranks came about in the Mestis league (2nd division) with IPK, before heading to Liiga (1st division) with SaiPa at the end of the 2021 season.

In 2021–22, Juusola played a top-six role with SaiPa, scoring 11 goals and 19 points in 46 games.

Last season was split between Liiga (with Sport) and his time in Czechia.

“I’m as excited with this signing as any,” said Head Coach Aaron Fox. “He has proved he can score at the top level, and I believe he can skate with anyone. His speed will be a huge asset to us this year.”
