The Steelers are back on the road on Wednesday night as Aaron Fox’s side return to the Guildford Spectrum to face the Guildford Flames.

And the surroundings will be very familiar.
It is only ten days since the Steelers last travelled to Guildford, producing one of the most dramatic comebacks of the early season to defeat the Flames 5-4 after a penalty shootout in the Challenge Cup.
Guildford raced into a 3-0 first-period lead that night before the Steelers fought their way back through goals from Olivier Archambault, Robert Dowd and Adam Rockwood.
Mitchell Balmas then scored the late power-play equaliser to force overtime before stepping up again to score the decisive shootout goal.
Matt Greenfield made the final save and another remarkable Steelers comeback was complete.
League Campaign Off to a Flying Start
Wednesday’s meeting is different, however.
Challenge Cup points are replaced by Elite League points, with the Steelers looking to build on the perfect start they made to their league campaign on Sunday.
Sheffield travelled to Scotland and produced an emphatic 6-1 victory over Glasgow Clan, collecting their opening two league points of the new season.
That came less than 24 hours after Saturday’s 3-2 overtime Challenge Cup victory against Nottingham Panthers at the Utilita Arena.
The Steelers therefore head back to Guildford on the back of another four-point weekend and with confidence high.
Flames Have Hit Form Too
Guildford will be every bit as confident.
Since losing that shootout thriller against Sheffield, the Flames have produced two impressive Challenge Cup performances of their own.
They defeated Cardiff Devils 5-1 at the Spectrum on Saturday before travelling to Nottingham on Sunday and beating the Panthers 4-1.
It sets up an intriguing Wednesday-night contest between two sides who enjoyed excellent weekends.
The Steelers know from their previous visit just how dangerous Guildford can be.
They also know they cannot afford to give the Flames the type of three-goal advantage they were forced to overcome ten days ago.
This time there are valuable league points on the line.
