Dan Hungate the lucky 5,000,000 fan.
On Sunday the Steelers welcomed the 5,000,000 spectator that has watched a Steelers official home game.
The Steelers first home game was played against the Chelmsford Chieftains back on the 6th October 1991 (3-3 draw with Messrs Shudra, Lee and Thompson scoring the the club)
With at attendance of 7,236 on Saturday against Belfast the club could confidently predict that fan number 5 million would walk through the doors on Sunday as we entertained Glasgow Clan
Dan had no idea he was that fan until the camera showed him on the big screen and he was met by Steeler Dan holding a special 5 Million Steelers shirt – a one off.
Following that presentation Dan and his family came down to the Steelers bench after the game where they were welcomed by club captain Robert Dowd
“I’d seen it promoted this week that we were close to 5 million fans” said Dowd “and then watched it flash up on the scoreboard in the first period
“It was great to meet Dan and present him with his shirt, that is defiantly a keep that shirt
“Our fan support is off the chart, every year more and more fans come out and cheer us on, we all appreciate it so much and can’t thank each and everyone of them enough”
Next Home Game – with a difference …
