Former Steeler Paul Dixon Receives the Ultimate Honour off the Guildford Flames

Congratulations to former Steeler Paul Dixon on his Flames Shirt Retirement.

Back in 1992-93, the Steelers second ever season, a young defenseman headed down south from the Durham Wasps to join us.

Paul Dixon would only play the one season with the Steelers, 38 games in total, scoring 9 goals, 24 assists for 33 points

In doing so “Digger” helped the Steelers into the top flight of the then British game – the Premier League as it was called.

Dixon would return to his home club Durham, they would then become the Newcastle Cobras

In 1999 Dixon joined the Guildford Flames as a player, that’s 26 years ago. He has been a player, a coach and the face of that franchise during that period.

Having your shirt retired is the biggest achievement that can be awarded a player and everyone at the Steelers wishes to congratulate you Paul on this great honour

Pictured with Paul is his wife Nina, sons Jack and Alfie and the Flames captain Brett Ferguson.

Paul will be back at the Arena on Wednesday when the Guildford Flames arrive for our next league game
