Fox Continues North American Search for Final Pieces of Steelers Roster

Sheffield Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox is back in North America as he looks to complete his roster ahead of the 2026-27 Motorpoint Elite League season.

Already this summer, Fox has strengthened his squad with six new import signings, welcomed British forward Brandon Whistle back to Sheffield following his spell with the Belfast Giants, promoted Ivan Björkly-Nordström and Liam Steele from the Sheffield Steeldogs, and added promising young goaltender Lucas Brine from the Glasgow Clan.

With the majority of his business completed, the Steelers are now down to just two remaining import vacancies, both expected to be filled by forwards. Fox is also hoping to secure a versatile two-way player capable of providing cover across multiple positions throughout the season.

Speaking from North America, Fox explained that patience remains the key to securing the right additions.

“We could sign three players tomorrow if we wanted, but the aim here is to wait things out as long as we can and sign the players we genuinely believe are the right fit for us – players who will contribute every night.

“We’ve identified the players we’re interested in and we’re in regular contact with both them and their agents. Those players also have decisions to make and other opportunities they’re waiting on, and that’s completely understandable. We appreciate their position just as much as they appreciate ours.”

While Fox continues his recruitment overseas, preparations for the new campaign are gathering pace back in Sheffield.

“Back in Sheffield, Shaun is well underway with the visa process, making sure everything is in place so we’ll have a full squad available and ready for the start of training camp in August.”

With much of the roster already assembled and the final pieces edging closer, excitement continues to build ahead of another highly anticipated Elite League campaign, as the Steelers look to ice a squad capable of challenging for honours once again.
