Fox confirms Watling’s retirement but says good news on the way

“Signings coming” say says Steelers Coach

Following the news that Marco Vallerand wouldn’t be returning to the Steelers and is heading to Europe comes the news that fellow Grand Slammer Patrick Watling has announced his retirement.

Watling played two seasons with the Steelers helping the club win the 2024 Grand Slam

In 140 games for the Steelers, Patrick scored 49 goals and 95 assists for 149 points (making him 38th in all time Steeler scoring after just two seasons with us)

Head coach Aaron Fox said “Watts came in and solidified our 1c spot and helped deliver 3 trophies.

“He was such a dynamic player who could turn a game on his own.

“I wish him all the best in his after hockey life”.

Fox continued “We don’t want the fans getting to down, we have some exciting signings to announce shortly and we are working day and night to ensure the best possible team is on the ice for the start of the new season”
