Great Work Out at EIS

All Systems Go Ahead of the New Season

Ahead of today’s on ice practise the team headed over to the gym and incredible facilities at the Instutute of Sport.

The English Institute of Sport has been partners of the Steelers for several years now and will once again be assisting the Steelers with our training this coming year.

Overseen by Steelers strength and conditioning coach Mike Mawer the boys worked for over an hour and a half before heading back to the arena

“It’s a busy period for the boys” said Mawer “they have all come into camp in great shape and have obviously worked hard this summer, they know however that these two weeks up leading the Coventry game will be tough and they have grasped the challenge with both hands

“Year by year I am more impressed in just how good of condition they guys return. We will push them hard this week and next to ensure we are in the best place possible when the real competition commences”

“It’s something we know we have to do at camp” said Dominic Cormier “we expect Mike to work us hard and whilst we don’t like it we know it is a necessary evil

“Looking at all of the guys we seem to be in good shape both in the gym and on the ice, we have only had a couple of skates right now but practise is quick and the boys are flying

“We have two weeks of this to ensure that we are in the best place possible when the Coventry game comes around on the 12th, I’m more than confident that we will be ready when the puck drops this Sunday let alone in two weeks time

“These are exciting times”
