The 2026 SSSC Awards Night
Another excellent awards night was organised by our fantastic SSSC last Tuesday with all of the players and staff present.
Mitchell Balmas was the big winner on the night scooping the two main prizes, the SSSC Player of the Year and the Players Player of the year awards.
The first award of the evening went the way of Mikko Juusola for his goal against the Panthers in the Challenge Cup semi final, Michael Chapman making the presentation.

Ray Fryer from the SSSC presented Evan Jasper with the coveted “Man of Steel” award.
The award is for his Gard work and determination throughout the season.

The inspirational Christin France was the winner of the Nikki Donnelly award for services two the community, Christine is working with the SSSC raising funds for the Team Ted Foundation
Tracy Shaw from the SSSC made the presentation.

Henry Clarke presented the Kids of Steel award, voted by the junior members of the SSSC, the winner was fan favourite Mitchell Heard.

Eamon McAdam picked up the new comers award to a rendition of “Tequila”

The British player of the year was Reece Keely, Ruth Thomas making the presentation

The fans who travel up and down the Country with the SSSC voted Dominic Cormier their “Away Player of the Year” with Tracy Shaw making the presentation.

Long time 50-50 seller Laura Palmer was the winner of the Brimble Roach award, given to a person who has made a huge contribution to the club, Laura wasn’t present on the night but received her award last Saturday from Robert Dowd

The SSSC Player of the year was voted for by SSSC members and the winner was Mitchell Balmas for his incredible goal scoring throughout the season.

Aaron Fox was presented with the “Champagne Moment” award for his ongoing record of most games coached by a Steelers head coach, in his speech Aaron made comment recognising the achievements of Robert Dowds goal scoring record and Matt Greenfield equalling the shut out record shared with Jody Lehman.

Aaron then stayed on stage and presented Sam Tremblay with the Coaches player of the year award

Captain Robert Dowd then stepped up and announced the players, player of the year award which went to Mitchell Balmas.


After the awards there was a lively auction with three great prizes.
Mikko Juusola handed over one of his signed shirts.


A very special signed Patric Watling shirt was accompanied by a 2024 Championship medal
Bidding was high and frantic for this prize.



Then Robert Dowd offered up one of his shirts, signed, as you can expect the bidding went on for a while
A winner was eventually found and Dowdy presented the prize

A huge thanks to the SSSC committee for organising a lovely evening and for their incredible hard work throughout the year
