Steelers welcome Anthony Morrone to our goaltending team for the 2023-24 Elite League season.

It will be Morrone’s first spell in the UK after joining from HK Olimpija Ljubljana where he was a team mate of our own Marco Vallerand

Morrone played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with various sides including Valleyfield Braves, Quebec Remparts and Drummondville Voltigeurs before turning professional in 2020 and signing for Alps side Lustenau.

In 2021 Anthony moved to French side Mulhouse before the move to Slovenia with Ljubljana. In last season’s play offs Morrone recorded as 93.7% saves percentage.

Head coach Aaron Fox commented “We are excited to have Anthony on board and expect him to play a big part in our season along side Matt and Gus between the pipes

“I like what I have seen in how Anthony plays, he is calm in goal and also very mobile. He is looking, at 24, for a big year to move his career forward and we hope very much that he has that with us”
