Head coach Aaron Fox added size, presence and experience with the addition of Kevin Tansey for the 23-24 Elite League season.

Tansey arrives in Sheffield after helping the Herning Blue Fox to the Danish play off finals last season adding 20 points and 9 goals from the blue line.

After studying at Clarkson University and playing in the NCAA Tansey turned professional in 2016 signing for Binghamton in the AHL, spells with Chicago (AHL), Missouri and Toledo (ECHL) followed before returning to AHL with both Stockton and Grand Rapids.

It was then Europe for the 6’4 225lb D man in the EBEL, ICEHL, Slovakia, Czechia before last year in Denmark.

Tansey has been tracked by Fox for some time and eventually got his man this summer “We’ve spoken for a while about Sheffield and it is nice to finally bring Kevin to the Steelers. I think his experience and presence will make him hugely important to this year’s side
