Logan Roe joins the Sheffield Steelers for the 2026-27 Elite League season, bringing a wealth of experience, size and offensive production to the club’s blue line.

The American defenceman arrives in Sheffield after four highly successful seasons with Black Wings Linz in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (IceHL), where he established himself as one of the league’s most productive offensive defencemen. Prior to his time in Austria, Roe spent a season in Sweden with Västerås IK in the Allsvenskan, adding further experience in one of Europe’s leading hockey nations.

Following an outstanding collegiate career at Canisius College, Roe embarked on a six-year professional career in North America, playing in both the American Hockey League (AHL) and the ECHL before making the move to Europe.

Standing 6’4″, Roe combines size with exceptional skating ability and is recognised as a true two-way defenceman. Comfortable in every situation, he moves the puck efficiently, drives play from the back end and consistently contributes offensively, while remaining strong and dependable in his own zone.

Head Coach Aaron Fox believes Roe’s experience, skating and ability to impact the game at both ends of the ice will make him a key part of the Steelers’ defence. A proven performer at the highest levels of European hockey, he is expected to play significant minutes in all situations throughout the season.

Away from the ice, Roe will begin studying at the Sheffield Hallam University Business School during his first year in the city, combining his professional hockey career with further education.

With extensive experience across North America and Europe, together with a reputation for leadership, consistency and offensive production from the blue line, Logan Roe adds another important piece to the Steelers roster as the club pursues success during the 2026-27 campaign.
