More size for the Steelers was confirmed with the signing of 6’5 centre Mark Simpson this summer

Simpson comes to the UK for the first time and joins the Steelers side from Asiago in Italy where last year he impressed in the ICEHL

After playing his junior career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Simpson moved to the University of New Brunswick between 2016 and 2020, after turning professional the following year he moved to the American Hockey League (AHL) with two seasons at Stockton Heat where he played 55 games

A short spell in Finland followed before the move to Asiago

Simpson prides himself on his 200 foot game and his work in the faceoff circle, something head coach Aaron Fox is looking forward to working with “I like all that I see with Mark, I think we will give him more offensive licence next season and I believe he will make a big contribution to the team

“His size and talent is a big plus for us and he will compliment well the team we are putting around him”
