One week to go…
A week today, the Sheffield Steelers are back at the Utilita Arena as Aaron Fox’s brand-new side takes to home ice for the very first time.
The Cardiff Devils provide the opposition on Sunday 30th August, face-off 4.00pm, and there will be plenty for the Orange Army to look forward to as the curtain rises on another season at the House of Steel.

With eight new imports, the return of Grand Slam winner Brandon Whistle and two players stepping up from the Steeldogs, there will be a fresh look to the Steelers when they skate out in front of the home crowd.
But don’t worry – plenty of familiar favourites are back as well.
Captain Robert Dowd once again leads the way, joined by returning forwards Mitchell Balmas, Mikko Juusola, Evan Jasper and Ryan Tait, while Ivan Björkly-Nordström makes the full-time step up from the Steeldogs.
Amongst the new arrivals are two forwards with NHL experience.
Sean Collins and Tim Gettinger bring a wealth of experience from the highest levels of the game, while Leevi Teissala, Adam Rockwood and Olivier Archambault add even more skill and offensive quality to Aaron Fox’s forward group.
And then there’s the return of #74.
After a season away in Belfast, Brandon Whistle is back home, bringing with him the experience of being part of the Steelers’ unforgettable 2024 Grand Slam-winning side.
A New-Look Blue Line
There is plenty of change at the back as well.
Brien Diffley and Dominic Cormier return in Orange, while Liam Steele makes the step up from the Steeldogs.
Joining them are three new import defencemen – Macoy Erkamps, Logan Roe and Aatu Aarnio – bringing size, experience and further quality to the Steelers blue line.

Greener Back for Season Five
One of the most familiar faces of all will once again be between the pipes.
Matt Greenfield returns for his fifth season with the Steelers, with new arrival Lucas Brine, formerly of Glasgow Clan and Dundee Stars, joining the goaltending group for the campaign ahead.
Old favourites. New faces. NHL experience. Young players stepping up. Grand Slam winners coming home.
They’ve travelled from across the world to become part of the 2026-27 Sheffield Steelers.
