Lucas Brine transfers from the Glasgow Clan
The Sheffield Steelers are delighted to confirm the signing of talented British goaltender Lucas Brine from the Glasgow Clan ahead of the 2026–27 Elite League season.
Brine, who is currently away with the Great Britain Men’s National Team at the World Championships in Switzerland, joins the Steelers to partner the outstanding Matt Greenfield between the pipes.
The move also confirms the departure of American netminder Eamon McAdam, who shared duties with Greenfield during the 2025–26 campaign.
Still only in the early stages of his Elite League career, Brine has already established himself as one of the most promising young British goaltenders in the country. Across spells with Dundee Stars and Glasgow Clan, he has made 47 Elite League starts over the past three seasons and earned a reputation for his calm presence, athleticism, and ability to deliver big performances.

Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox believes Brine will be an excellent fit within the Steelers organisation.
“Eamon talked this summer about exploring opportunities outside of hockey, so when Lucas became available we felt really good about bringing him into our group,” said Fox.
“Lucas is a young, talented British goalie who has already shown he can win games at this level.
“He’s someone we think will work really well alongside Greener. On nights we decide to rest Matt, we know we have a solid and reliable goalie capable of delivering results.
“It also gives us flexibility with our roster, especially when it comes to imports and carrying extra depth if we stay healthy.
“We’ve seen Lucas first-hand over the last couple of years, including games where he’s beaten us, so we know the quality he has.
“I’m looking forward to getting him into Sheffield and getting to work.”

Speaking from Switzerland, where he is playing alongside fellow Steelers Robert Dowd and Liam Steele, whilst away with Team GB, Brine admitted he was excited by the challenge of joining the Steelers.
“Playing against Sheffield over the last few years, you quickly realise what a first-class organisation they are,” said Brine.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the club and really looking forward to what’s ahead.
“One of the biggest reasons for making the move was that I instantly felt wanted and part of the plans moving forward. I had really positive conversations with Aaron Fox and Tony Smith and everything just felt right for me.
“Personally, this is a challenge I’m really excited about. Everyone knows the expectations that come with playing in Sheffield and I want to push myself and be part of a team competing to win trophies.
“In Matt Greenfield, the Steelers have arguably the best goalie in the league. I’m looking forward to working with him, learning from him and pushing each other to be the best we can be.”
Brine now becomes the latest addition to the Steelers roster as preparations continue for the 2026–27 Elite League season.
