Welcome Home Scott Allen

Scott Allen is coming home after signing a new 1 year contract with the club.

He rejoins line mates Daniel Ciampini and Brett Neumann is this years squad ahead of the 2023-24 Elite League Season.

“I like what I see in how Foxy has done his summer business and I’m in” said Scott Allen on confirming his return to the Steelers line for season 2023-24

The 6’3 centre scored 50 points in 54 league, cup and play-off games last season, his first in the UK since arriving from his 5 year spell in mainland Europe (Germany and Norway).

Allen admitted it was a “Fairly easy decision” but did confirm that he had a good look around before inking his new deal “I tested the water for sure” he said “as a free agent that’s my right to do so

“We had enjoyed good times in Germany and I had a couple of friends playing on teams over there so we did take a look to see if there was any interest from those sides with the benefit of knowing that Sheffield was there as well

“My family and I really enjoyed Sheffield and made many friends, so in the end it was a no brainer for us. I love the city, my team mates, the environment that Foxy creates so Sheffield was the only team in the UK for me”

Allen’s former coach (in Germany) Pete Russell did reach out and try to take Scott to Cardiff he confirmed “I like Pete and enjoyed my times playing for him, we had some good chats, but for me if it was the UK it was Sheffield”

As for the team Scott is returning to “I like the pieces we have returning, of course I will miss some of the guys moving on but do like the look of what is coming in. There is a solid core coming back which is important

“We have our flights booked and can’t wait to arrive in a couple of weeks now”

Head Coach Aaron Fox welcomed Scott back saying “Scotty coming back gives us a big versatile 2 way forward that can play all 3 positions.

“He has an outstanding shot and release and led our team in goals last year.

“On the penalty kill Scott and Daniel Ciampini were outstanding , they combined for 6 short-handed goals.

“Scott skates very well for a big guy and can also play a heavy game.  He’s also great for the dressing room and is a guy we will count on in a leadership role. Great to have him back”.
