2026-27 Roster Building Nicely

Steelers Building Strongly for 2026–27 Season

While the off-season may only be a few weeks old, work continues at pace behind the scenes at Steelers HQ as preparations ramp up for what promises to be an exciting 2026–27 campaign.

Already this summer, the club has secured a number of key re-signings, added an exciting new arrival, and said farewell to some familiar faces as the roster begins to take shape.

For the latest updates on the Steelers’ 2026–27 line-up, supporters can visit the Roster Page on the club website [HERE].

Core Returnees Already Secured

Even before the conclusion of last season, the Steelers confirmed that three key players would be returning on multi-year deals.

Elite League MVP netminder Matt Greenfield, standout defenceman Dominic Cormier, and forward Evan Jasper will form a strong core heading into the new campaign.

Captain Commits to the Future

In one of the standout announcements of the summer, club captain Robert Dowd put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.

Widely regarded as the best British player in the Elite League, Dowd’s commitment is a huge boost both on and off the ice as he continues to lead the Steelers forward.

Whistle Returns to Sheffield

After a season away, which saw him lift silverware with the Belfast Giants, Brandon Whistle has returned home to Sheffield.

The talented forward has signed a two-year contract, keeping him with the club through to at least the end of the 2027–28 season.

Next Generation Steps Up

The Steelers have also strengthened their British core with the promotion of two familiar faces from the Sheffield Steeldogs.

Ivan Björkly Nordström (two-year deal) and Liam Steele (one-year deal) have both made the step up to full-time roles, highlighting the success of the club’s development pathway.

First New Signing Confirmed

The first new addition of the summer was confirmed ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, with Head Coach Aaron Fox announcing the signing of skilled forward Olivier Archambault for the 2026–27 season.

Familiar Faces Depart

The Steelers have also paid tribute to two players who will not be returning for the upcoming season.

Defenceman Kevin Tansey has announced his retirement from professional hockey, bringing an end to a respected career, while forward Sam Tremblay will return to North America to continue his career in the ECHL.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to both players for their contributions and wishes them every success in the future.
