The Play Offs: Steelers – Flames – The Series So Far

This is the 10th game of the season between the Steelers and Flames, with Game 9 played in February. 

Going into this series the Steelers have had the upper hand, but as we all know, the Play Offs are a different league of their own. 

Early in the 25-26 season the Steelers took maximum points off the Flames with a 5-2 home victory and a 4-3 OT win at the Spectrum. 

It was the sign of things to come with Steelers winning 5 of the 6 EIHL games collecting an impressive 11 points to the Flames 4, a 2-1 shoot out win and 2 overtime losses. 

Game 1 – 25th October – Steelers 4-3 Flames 


Sam Tremblay the hero of the night scoring the game winner with just 48 seconds remaining

The Flames had tied the game through Cole Ully only 2 minutes earlier


Game 2 – 29th October – Flames 1-5 Steelers


Steelers off to a flyer with a first period goals from Stephen Harper, we then hit 3 second period goals in less than 2 minutes from Messrs Jasper, Heard and Captain Robert Dowd. Derek Gentile his a 5th before Cole Ully scored the Flames only goal of the game at 53.46

Game 3 – Steelers 4-3 Flames OT


The Ice Man, Mitchell Balmas the overtime here in this one scoring with just 26 seconds remaining in OT

Balmas had already scored for the Steeler, timing the game after Mathiey Gosselin’s opener. Cormier and Jasper had the Steelers 3-1 up before 2 Flames goals in less than a minute, Gosselin’s 2nd and a game tier from Charlie Curti, had the game going to an extra period

Game 4 – Flames 3-4 Steelers Shoot Out


Same result for the second game running, this one though went through OT and into a shoot out.

Flames led 2-0 after 20 minutes but goals from Pu and Harper had the scores level by the second interval.

Evan Jasper scored just 26 seconds in to the final period before Waller’s PPG with 83 seconds remaining.

Cometh the moment, Mitchell Balmas, who else for the game winning penalty shot.

Game 5 – Flames 2-1 Steelers OT.


The tightest game of the league series, with the game scoreless after 40 minutes

Alvaro opened the Flames account less than 4 minutes into the final period before Mitchell Balmas equalised at 47.11

Jack Jacome hit the winner 92 seconds into overtime for the win.

Game 6 – Steelers 6-3 Flames


Steelers four up before the Flames got on the board after strikes from Messrs Harper, Balmas, Dowd and Tansey.

However, by the time Patrick Watling scored the 4th at 48.54 the Flames had tied the game 3-3 after goals from Gosselin, Brown and Watson.
