Offensive, high scoring forward joins the Steelers
The Sheffield Steelers are delighted to announce the signing of highly skilled offensive forward Olivier Archambault, who joins the club from French side Angers.
Archambault arrives in Sheffield following an impressive spell in France, where he recorded 9 goals and 23 assists in just 28 league and playoff appearances, underlining his creativity and attacking impact.
A former 4th round NHL Draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011, Archambault brings a wealth of North American experience. He went on to play 94 games in the American Hockey League, registering 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists) across spells with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Iowa Wild.

He also enjoyed a highly productive career in the ECHL, where he amassed 108 goals and 253 points in 245 games. During that time, he represented the Quad City Mallards, South Carolina Stingrays, Alaska Aces, Allen Americans, and Orlando Solar Bears, establishing himself as a consistent offensive threat.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Archambault completed his final North American season with Trois-Rivières before making the move to Europe in 2022, signing with HC Pustertal in the ICE League. Since then, he has gained further experience across top leagues in Czechia and Slovakia, before his move to France last season.
Head Coach Aaron Fox believes the Canadian forward will make an immediate impact:
“Olivier is an extremely gifted offensive player who will come in and be a top-six difference maker for us.
He sees the ice exceptionally well, is strong on the puck down low, and is elite in transition.
I also see him as a key powerplay player who can operate on both half-walls. He’s a dangerous playmaker with a great scoring touch and should be a really strong addition to our forward group.”
Speaking from his home in Montreal, Archambault said:
“I’m really excited and happy to be joining the Steelers. Dominic Cormier spoke very highly of the club and recommended it to me.
The league in the UK is getting stronger, and as a player you want to challenge yourself in different environments. This feels like a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started.
I’m an offensive player who likes to play with creativity and enjoy the game. I want to create chances, score goals, and help my teammates.
I’ve also been really impressed by the club and the incredible fanbase. Dom has told me to expect something special from the support, and I’m looking forward to experiencing that.”
Archambault adds further quality and depth to the Steelers’ forward group as the club continues to build for the upcoming season.
