Excitement Mounts for Steelers New Signing
After a weekend in Scotland watching the Steelers, new signing Brett Ritchie is now settled in Sheffield and will skate with his new team mates on Tuesday
Speaking about his move to the Steelers Ritchie said “I was playing in Austria, and pretty new to the European ways, the opportunity came about to move to the UK. I know a lot of people who have played over here and always heard good things, I took references about the clubs I should be looking at and the Steelers were top of that list
“It’s a cool experience to get over here and was good to see the boys in action this weekend.
“I found the three games I watched to be more North American style but I guess thats because so many of the players are from back home. The ice is a little bigger but that won’t be an issue”
Ritchie says he has been welcomed into the Steelers fold “The guys seem a great group and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year, we are 4th right now but right in the mix, sure this weekend perhaps didn’t go to plan but there is lots of hockey to be played”
Speaking about his style of play Brett said “I’m a power forward, I perhaps had a different role in the NHL than I will have here, but I play a well rounded game, try and be hard to play against, and yes, a power forward”
Home Debut for Ritchie on the 24th / 25th Double Header Weekend
Whilst Brett will debut for the Steelers this Friday and Saturday in Belfast, he will make his home, Arena, debut on Saturday 24th against Manchester (7pm) and then the day after against Cardiff (4pm) on Sunday 25th January.
