Players Starting to Arrive – It Feels Real Now…
You know a new season is getting close when the players start arriving back in Sheffield – and today it all began to feel very real.
First through the door was a familiar face as Brandon Whistle arrived back home in Sheffield, accompanied by partner Rylie and, of course, faithful companion Aspen.
After a season away, Whistle returns to the Steelers for the 2026-27 campaign and will once again pull on the Orange jersey at the Utilita Arena.
Brandon needs little introduction to Steelers supporters. He was an important member of Aaron Fox’s historic 2024 Grand Slam-winning side and his return to Sheffield was one of the most popular announcements of the summer.
Now he’s back – and ready to get started.
Brandon is the first of Aaron Fox’s squad to arrive, with Dominic Cormier next through the door on Monday.
After that, the airport runs really begin!

Players will continue arriving throughout the week as the new-look Steelers roster assembles in Sheffield ahead of Induction Day on Monday 24th August and the start of training camp.
With new faces to welcome, familiar favourites returning and preparations about to move from the office to the ice, the countdown to the 2026-27 season is well and truly underway.
And supporters don’t have long to wait to see the new Steelers for themselves.
The first home game of the season takes place at the Utilita Arena on Sunday 30th August, when the Steelers welcome the Cardiff Devils for a 4.00pm face-off.
