Ice Going Down at the Arena as New Season Looms

The Ice Is Down – The House of Steel Is Coming Back to Life

Another sure sign that the new Steelers season is almost upon us – the ice is going down at the Utilita Arena.

Work began at the end of last week as the Arena team started the painstaking process of preparing the ice pad ahead of the Steelers’ return later this month.

The initial layers of ice were laid before the familiar red and blue lines were added, transforming the Arena floor back into something that looks very much like home.

This weekend it was the Steelers’ turn to get involved.

Commercial Manager Mike O’Connor was joined by an army of helpers as the club’s corporate partners’ logos were carefully positioned and painted into the ice ahead of the final layers being added.

Work is also continuing around the rink, with sponsors’ branding and dasher boards being prepared as the Arena gets ready to welcome the Orange Army back through the doors.

It’s another important part of the summer preparations and comes as Aaron Fox’s players begin arriving back in Sheffield ahead of Induction Day and the start of training camp.

After months of recruitment, player announcements and preparations behind the scenes, attention is now very quickly turning towards the ice.

And it won’t be empty for much longer.

The Steelers play their first home game of the new season on Sunday 30th August at 4.00pm, when the Cardiff Devilsvisit the Utilita Arena.
