Ever Present Ryan Tait Back with the Steelers

Tait Returns for Second Season with the Steelers

The Sheffield Steelers are delighted to confirm that forward Ryan Tait will return for the 2026-27 Elite League season.

Tait joined the Steelers ahead of the 2025-26 campaign after three successful seasons with the Guildford Flames and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most dependable and versatile forwards.

The American was ever-present throughout the season, skating in all 54 Elite League fixtures, 12 Challenge Cup games and all four Playoff matches. He finished the campaign with 14 goals and 50 points, while becoming a key contributor in every area of the ice.

Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox believes Tait’s value to the team goes far beyond the scoresheet.

“Taiter is a pace-driven player who can play in all situations and has complete buy-in to how we want and need to play.

“He’s willing to play whatever role he’s given on any given night and is a true team-first guy who brings an infectious, positive vibe to the dressing room every day.

“From a production point of view, he was our second-leading scorer from February 1st onwards and, from an expected goals standpoint, he and Jazzy were tied for second behind Balmas.

“I think he created plenty of opportunities and probably left a lot on the table. He’s also one of our first penalty killers over the boards, and that was a real strength for us last season.

“There are certain players you never have to worry about when it comes to effort and commitment, and Ryan is one of those guys. Those are the players you feel really good about bringing back.

“From a line construction standpoint, he’s someone who can play anywhere in your lineup and you’ll feel confident in whatever role he fills.”

Speaking from his home in the United States, Tait said he never hesitated when the opportunity came to return to Sheffield.

“I got a taste of Sheffield that I really liked. I experienced the expectations that come with playing for the Steelers, the incredible rivalry games with Nottingham and Cardiff, and I want more of that.

“We’ve got an outstanding core of players returning that anyone would be happy to play alongside, and from what I’ve seen, we’ve also added some exciting new faces.

“I can’t wait to get back.”

With his speed, versatility and team-first attitude, Tait returns for a second season in Orange looking to build on an impressive first year and help the Steelers challenge for silverware once again in 2026-27.
