Mitchell Heard (born March 12, 1992, in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada) is a seasoned professional ice hockey centre known for his combination of skill, size, and relentless competitive drive. Drafted 41st overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Heard quickly developed a reputation as a versatile two-way forward with a knack for winning face offs, driving hard to the net, and making plays in high-pressure situations.
Heard began his hockey journey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Plymouth Whalers, where his scoring touch and physical style caught the attention of NHL scouts. After turning pro, he competed in North America’s AHL and ECHL, including stints with the Lake Erie Monsters, where he honed his game against some of the best up-and-coming talent in the sport.
Seeking new challenges, Heard brought his talents to Europe, playing in Germany’s DEL with the Straubing Tigers and SC Bietigheim Steelers, as well as in the Slovak Extraliga with HK Dukla Michalovce. In 2024, he joined the Glasgow Clan where his combination of leadership, offensive ability, and hard-nosed play made an immediate impact, earning him a contract extension before moving to the Sheffield Steelers.
