25 Year Old Leevi Added to the Steelers Roster
The Sheffield Steelers have strengthened their roster for the 2026-27 Elite League season with the signing of talented Finnish forward Leevi Teissala.
The 25-year-old arrives in Sheffield after spending the past three seasons with TPS in Finland’s top-flight Liiga, where he gained valuable experience across 195 league appearances. Teissala has also featured in the prestigious Champions Hockey League, adding a further five games at European level.
The creative winger is excited by the opportunity to begin the next chapter of his career with the Steelers and play in front of one of the biggest fan bases in European hockey.
“I’m very happy to be coming to Sheffield and taking on a new challenge with the Steelers,” said Teissala.
“When I heard the Steelers were interested, I watched videos of the club and was excited straight away when I saw the arena and the huge fan base.
“After speaking with Aaron, I’m really looking forward to my role with the team. My aim is to add offence and create chances. Over the last few seasons I’ve played in a variety of roles, so it will be nice to get back to the style of game I enjoy most.
“I like to play with the puck, make plays and be creative. Creating opportunities for teammates is a big part of my game and something I take great pride in.”
Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox believes Teissala has all the attributes to become an important offensive contributor for the club.
“Leevi is a hard-working, competitive winger who plays with a ton of pace and isn’t afraid to get involved in all areas of the ice.
“He brings valuable experience from Liiga and produced some very good numbers there, especially at a young age.
“I believe Leevi plays a strong two-way game and has the ability to create offence with his speed and skill. He has excellent hands and is at his best in traffic, where he can make plays and generate scoring opportunities.
“Leevi is at a great age in his career and I think he has the potential to be a big-time point producer for us. We’re excited to see that skill level and what he will bring to our lineup.”
With top-level experience in Finland and a reputation for creativity and offensive flair, Teissala adds another exciting dimension to the Steelers roster as preparations continue for the 2026-27 campaign.
