Steelers out chanced and out played the Clan for the majority of the game in Glasgow but failed to capitalise on the many scoring chances they had.

Marco Vallerand scored once in each of the first two periods with the Steelers failing to put the bed in a flat final period.

It was all Steelers in OT with Vallerand and Balmass going close – Mikko wins it and Steelers bring the points home.

The Story of This One …

Steelers back in league action with a road trip to Glasgow, they also travelled with Brandon Whistle who returned for his first competitive game of the season.

Aaron Fox kept with the same squad that beat Dundee on Sunday with Kameron Kilelly missing out.

Period 1 …

Steelers dominated the majority of the period outshooting the Clan 14-8 in the first 20 minutes

It was however the home side that struck first and against the run ion play.

Harrison burst down the left wing and centred a pass through Matt Greenfield’s crease. Colton Saucerman and Reece Kelly both crashed the net with the puck deflecting into the goal off the skate of the Clan forward.

Steelers hit right back with Saucerman feeding Robert Dowd whose shot deflected out to Marco Vallerand and he backhanded home high into the roof of the net (1-1)

Matt Greenfield was twice called into action on Clan breakaways, whilst his counterpart, Anti Karjalainen pulled off heroics at the other end with saves off Dowd, Neumann and Watling (twice).

Period 2 …

A 1-1 first period followed by a 1-1 middle session.

First penalty of the game came at 23.26 when Craighead tripped Matt Petgrave to give the Steelers a man advantage.

It was however the Clan that went closest with Robert Lachowicz breaking away and denied by Matt Greenfield.

Then as the penalty was about to expire the Clan again broke with Greenfield called on to break up their attack.

Moments later the Steelers were ahead

25.45 and Vallerand hit his second of the night with a shot that went right through Anti Karjalainen (Brett Neumann picking up the assist.

Steelers had opportunities to extend their lead but despite chances they failed to capitalise on their advantage.

The Clan broke and did start to create some chances and at 35.15 Lachowicz pass found Alex Forbes and the former Coventry Blaze forward riffled a shot over Matt Greenfield’s glove to tie the game 2-2

Period 3 …

Having dominated the first two periods the final session became a scruffy affair with chances being created from mistakes at both ends.

The Clan will be kicking themselves after missing out on two third period power plays when Daniel Ciampini first went for hooking at 49.05 and followed it up with an interference penalty a minute after returning to the ice.

Steelers killed well with Sam Jones blocking shots

Overtime …

So with a point each, who would be victorious?

It was all Steelers in OT with Marco Vallerand setting Mitchell Balmass up first of all, Vallerand then went close him self before Mikko Juusola slotted home 64 seconds in to claim the additional point for the men in Orange.
