Steelers take the points in a tough one in Dundee, McAdam Outstanding

Steelers come away with the points from Dundee on Friday night, but it was a tight one with Dominic Cormier scoring the GWG in the 57th minute, moments after Dundee had though they had gone ahead only for the goal to be disallowed.

First Period.
Early chances for Cormier, Harper and Jasper with Kruse making the saves for the Stars.

07.23 and Steelers take an early lead as Heard and Ritchie assist Jordon Southorn’s opener.

McAdam was busy in the opening period making several excellent saves including a great stop from Garrigan from close range.
14.06 Dundee level as Kelly gets turned over and the Stars skate in 2 on 0 with Curran the spare man and a simple tap in to equalise.
Jasper close off the face off but shoots just wide. Dowd with the Steelers final chance of the period skating out of the corner and taking a shot.

Second Period.
Steelers with the majority of the play but failing to get the puck past Kruse in the Stars goal.
There was a penalty at the end of the period, the first of the game, Kruse called for tripping Tansey at 35.37
The power-play wasn’t great and in fact the best chance fell to the Stars with a short handed breakaway – McAdam making a great save.
End of the middle period

Third Period.
More of the same in the third period, Steelers out the better side and creating chances but failing to take advantage.
Cormier fed Harper who went close again
Dundee crash the net and have two great chances to score, somehow the puck doesn’t cross the line but Stephen Harper takes 2 for slashing. Dundee PP
53.10 and Johnny Curran scores his second of the night only for the Steelers to review it and the goal be disallowed for goalie interference.
Steelers capitalise as Balams find Cormier skating through the middle and he fires home for the eventual game winner at 56.03
Dundee push and have a late face off in the Steelers zone, Stars pull Kruse for the extra attacker and look like they have levelled but somehow McAdam gets his glove to a puck he has no rights to get to – Steelers still lead 2-1
With 54 seconds remaining Dowd intercepts and finds the empty net for a final score of Dundee Stars 1-3 Steelers
