Ivan impresses and makes the move from the Steeldogs
The future is here as Ivan signs for 2 more years with the Steelers.
Sheffield Steelers head coach Aaron Fox today confirmed that power forward Ivan Björkly Nördstom had signed a two-year, one way contract with the club.
Ivan joined Sheffield’s hockey project back in 2024 when he moved from the Peterborough Phantoms, signing a two year, two way deal between the Steeldogs and the Steelers.
In the years that followed Ivan netted 44 goals and 117 points in just 82 games with the Steeldogs whilst also making 33 appearances for the Steelers scoring another 3 goals and 5 points.
“I’m really happy for this opportunity to play full time with the Steelers” said Ivan “I feel I’m ready to make the step after the two way deal with the Steeldogs”.
Ivan impressed in the recent Elite League play offs logging big minutes playing up the line up “It was a great experience and one I hope to repeat in the years ahead. Playing at the faster pace with some incredible linemates was all that I expected it to be and I felt I held my own.
“I think my progression shows that the link up between the Steelers and Steeldogs does work with the coaches seeing you in training every day; I think I am one of many who will make a similar step in the months and years ahead. Head coach Aaron Fox commented “In Ivan we have someone who developed the last two seasons and showed last weekend what we can expect next year.
“His ceiling is so high and I think he will have a breakout year next season. He skates well, wants the puck and can really work D over below the hash mark.
“Ivan’s summer will be key coming back in top shape to hit the ground running”.
