Brandon Comes Home & Signs for 2 years

Brit pack stronger than ever as Brandon Whistle commits for 2 years

The Sheffield Steelers are delighted to confirm that Brandon Whistle will return to the club on a new two‑year contract, following a season with the Belfast Giants.

Whistle has already made 270 appearances for the Steelers since first joining the club in 2018. After spells with Telford Tigers and Leeds Knights, Brandon returned to Sheffield midway through the 2021–22 season and went on to complete three further seasons with the club, including the historic Grand Slam campaign of 2024.

Last season saw Brandon join his brother Jackson Whistle in Belfast, where the pair helped the Giants capture the EIHL Championship.

“I’m super excited to be back in Sheffield,” said Whistle. “I think everyone knows that moving to Belfast wasn’t a hockey decision, I wanted the chance to play a season alongside my brother, and we had a great year together.

“Now all the focus is on Sheffield and returning home to a club that I know is heading in the right direction. I’ve had several good chats with Aaron, and I’m confident we’ll be fighting for that number one position once again.

“I’m really looking forward to joining up with a lot of old friends and teammates in the dressing room, although I’ll be asking for a different seat this time, as I was stuck up in the corner next to the goalies last time,” Brandon joked.

Head Coach Aaron Fox welcomed the news, commenting, “Getting ‘Whis’ back for the next two years gives us another top‑nine British forward who can play in all situations. It immediately makes us a deeper hockey team, which was something we really lacked last year.

“It’s great to have him back.”
