Greenfield “Curtis gets better every year”
It’s a fifth season with the Steelers for Curtis Warburton after head coach, Aaron Fox confirmed that he would be the clubs 3rd goalie alongside Matt Greenfield and new signing Eamon McAdam.
Warburton, one of our own, having come through the Sheffield academy, made his Steelers debut back in the 2021 Elite Series in Nottingham. Since then Curtis has been a part of the Sheffield senior hockey scene with the exception of 2023-24 when he played 24 times for Solway.
“Curtis coming back in the same role is a no brainer for us” said Aaron Fox. “He’s great in the room and competes hard everyday. He is the type of guy who only wants to get better and do what’s best for the team.
“Curtis is the last guy off the ice everyday and is exactly what being a steeler is all about”.
Curtis commented saying “I’m really excited to be back in Sheffield for another year, the city where it all started for me.
“It’s a great organisation with amazing fans, and I’m looking forward to getting started and contributing wherever I can”.
Recently Curtis has been training in Canada with Matt Greenfield and Greener has been impressed with Curtis’s improvement “Curtis has been playing really well out here. You can see a noticeable improvement in his game each time he comes over to train. I’m excited to see him in action this season.”
