The Band are back together for another season of Steelers Hockey
Last Tuesday the Steelers all met up for the first time since the end of last season.
Whilst there was no ice down at the arena, and training was to commence at ICE Sheffield, the Steelers squad of full time and two-way players gathered at the Arena lounge to meet with owner Tony Smith, head coach Aaron Fox and the team of on and off ice staff.
The day is one of the busiest of the year, Mike Mawer is in full force with off ice testing, the media team is in the Coors Lounge for the Green Screen photos and videos, Tony takes charge of the meeting and then Aaron took the guys to ICE Sheffield for the first Steelers training session of the year.
Robert Dowd and Coles Shudra weren’t present as they were away with the GB National Side, Daniel Ciampini was allowed an extra day away following his wedding at the weekend.
New signings Daniel Leavens, Angelo Miceli, Joel Janatuinen, Joona Huttula, Sacha Guimond and Marco De-Filippo were all present.
Club owner Tony Smith said “It’s one of the most important days of the year and whilst so many of the guys had heard our message before it is good to reiterate it and also bring our new players up to date with what is expected here
“I now can leave the team affairs to Aaron knowing they are in safe hands whilst I concentrate on running the Steelers business and planning for the weeks and months ahead”
Returning Matt Greenfield echoed those words “It’s so good to be back and around the guys, it doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago we were here celebrating. Now the hard work starts as we try and defend our titles”
New signing Angelo Miceli commented “This is an incredible place to be and I feel welcomed and at home already. I’ve been here just a few days but feel at home
“I can’t wait to start for real and I’m looking forward to the games at the weekend and playing in front of the Steelers fans”
