Niklas Nevalainen Heads Home After a Grand Slam
Grand Slam Steelers Niklas Nevalainen has confirmed that he won’t be returning to the Steelers next season and that he is returning home with his family to take up another opportunity and won’t be available to return.
The Steelers wish to go on record in thanking Niki for everything he has given us over the last two years on and off the ice. A quality player but even better person.
In his post on social media today Niki said ”You should always leave the party when you still have fun.
“And boy I had fun this year.
“I can’t thank enough all the people in Sheffield for making these 2years such an incredible memory for me and my family. So from the bottom of my heart, Thank you to all of you. Cheers”
Head Coach Aaron Fox Said “Niky is one of kind. A truly selfless player that is willing to play whatever role is asked of him.
“His plus/minus combined the last two Years is +81 and was such a key player for this group.
“Another guy you knew exactly what you were getting and played our system perfectly. He will be greatly missed on the ice but possibly will be missed more in our dressing room. Just a quality person that was great to be around the last two years.
“Niklas and I had a few conversations leading up to the playoffs about him returning for another year. There was an opportunity back home for him and his family that if they got it he would return home. I think he found out the morning of the Finals and told me during our celebrations. I couldn’t be happier for him and his family and what a way to go out with us winning that last one”.
