Steelers Sign Grand Slammer For Remainder Of The Season

Head Coach Aaron Fox has confirmed the re-signing of Grand Slam forward Patrick Watling.

Watling, who played two seasons with the Steelers was a member of the 2024 Grand Slam side, and was a major contributor to our incredible run in the Champions Hockey League.

Watling announced his retirement this summer to take up a job in the US, however with recent developments in Sheffield, Aaron Fox has persuaded to high impact forward to return to Sheffield.

Fox said “I’m really excited to get Watty back for the 2nd half of the season.

“He’s a dynamic offense player that plays with pace and knows how we play. It’s nice when you can add a guy that’s played at a high level and won with us. Also a guy that’s very well received in our dressing room.

“Speaking with him I can tell you that he is excited to get in and get to work”.

On his part, Patrick Watling said “When you are presented with an opportunity like this, you take it!

“The Sheffield Steelers, the club, the fans, the city have given me everything a professional hockey player could ever want, so when they reach out to you and give you this opportunity, you say yes.

“I’m super excited to get over there, I will be leaving my family for Christmas which is tough, but I’m heading to my second family and thats good by me”.
