———————————————————–

Steelers back in action less than 24 hours after their 4-3 victory over Guildford on Saturday

It’s the final cup game in the round robin groups and a point or more for the Steelers will see us top of Challenge Cup Group as we progress in the semi finals.

Aaron Fox has called on Eamon McAdam to play between the pipes but other than that selects the same team that beat the Flames last night

You can watch the game live on Manchester Storm TV with Face Off at 5.30pm – HERE

First Period.

Even first period without to much to shout about either way

Both teams have had little looks on the power-play and both goalies, Messrs McAdam and Weninger have been called upon to make important saves.

Just 02.14 in and Caines left his stick in on McAdam, Reece Kelly didn’t take lightly to that and the pair had a pushing and shoving session that saw them both head to the penalty box for 2 minutes.

06.47 and Joona Huttula to the box for hooking just to the side of McAdam’s goal – first PP of the night to the Storm

Best chance though fell to Sam Tremblay who broke shorthanded but his shot was just wide.

Back on 5-5 play and Cliff Pu looked like he had opened the Steelers account but Weninger got his pad to it just in time, it remained 0-0

At the other end McAdam was called upon as he went from East to West to dense the Storm

17.17 and Derek Gentile was hammered into the boards and the Storms Welsh headed to the box for a “Boarding” minor

Steelers power-play didn’t last long as the team were called for too many men on the ice at 18.26 (Dowd serves the penalty)

As we headed into the final minute, the Steelers returned to full strength, the Storm will start the middle period with a short (26 second) power-play

Second Period.

Steelers killed the reminder of the Manchester power-play with Robert Dowd returning to the ice

24.16 and Cole Shudra sat 2 for cross checking

24.55 and Cutler sits 2 for Manchester, hooking Tremblay – we play 4 on 4

Steelers full strength and a short power-play, Cormier went close finding Weningers glove.

29.02 and Gentile off for slashing but Steelers kill

Then the fun began … first of all at 35.57 Dudek gets a double minor, 2 for interference and 2 for cross checking.

Just 8 seconds later at 34.05 Dowdy opens the scoring (0-1) Jasper assisting.

34.22 and Aleut takes 2 for slashing, Steelers on the a 5 on 3 PP and they take full advantage.

34.45 Heard finishes off a nice move with Harper and Balmas for 2-0

Shorthanded the Storm come back with McAdam called on to make the save of the night.

36.46 Southorn clashes and heads to the box for interference

37.07 and the Storms turn to take advantage of the PP as Kaleb Ergang fires home through traffic to make it 1-2

Penalties not over as Diffley the next to head to the box as it all gets heated here in Manchester at 39.22 and the Storm look for an equaliser.

End of the 2nd
