Training Camp Starts – Induction Day Everyone Present

Season 2025-26 is up and running

A week today the Steelers start their 2025-26 season with a home game against Cardiff Devils (7pm Arena face off) with tickets HERE

On Friday, the team gathered for the first time at the cubs induction day inside the Utilita Arena

Meetings, paperwork, media photos and videos and the dreaded fitness tests … all in the opening day of training camp.

Our final player, Nick Seitz arrived just in time, he had been on the runway on Wednesday only for his flight to be then cancelled. He flew out on Thursday arriving Friday morning and driving to the arena and right into day one of camp

At least there was some team mates in reception (Messrs: Gentile and Balmas) to welcome him.

Some of the guys went into the video room whilst the remaining players hit the gym under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Mike Mawer.

Various fitness tests were carried out, including the killer wattage bike test.

Video and still footage phots were being taken in the lounge as the guys proudly showed off the new team kit for next season – this can’t be shown until after the official shirt launch on the 5th September

New goal celebrations were filmed that you will see on the video screen next season

Marco Vallerand might not be in the team this year, but we called upon him for some assistance, especially for the Brien Diffley goal celebration video.

The social media team were busy ensuring that you enjoyed some great content with the team arriving

Make sure you log into the clubs TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts to see more

Several of the new players were interviewed and you can already watch these videos on the clubs twitter and Facebook pages.

Those interviewed include head coach Aaron Fox, associate coach Carter Beston-Will and strength and conditioning coach Mike Mawer

Players interviews include Logan Neilson, Cliff Pu, Nick Seitz and Jack Dougherty

Time to meet the boss …

Then it was time to head upstairs for the formal induction with Owner Tony Smith.

Other contributions were made by Dom Stokes and clubs Dr Gow Davies as protocol was explained about what was expected inside our home venue and the medical procedures the club uses.

Those returning had heard it all before, but the new players were getting the rules and regulations about what it means to be a Steeler.

On ice training commences on Saturday 23rd ahead of the clubs opening home game on Saturday 30th August against Cardiff Devils (7pm Arena Face Off)
