Two Years for Jasper at the Steelers

Foxy adds Evan Jasper to the roster until 2027

Add the UK to Canada, America, Denmark, China, France, Germany, Czech and Austria – yes, new signing Evan Jasper is a much wanted and well-travelled forward.

Jasper has signed a two year contract with the Steelers after concluding his time in Austria last year with the Vienna Capitals.

After completing his education with Sacred Heart University (between 2014 and 2017) where he ended up as the team captain, Jasper turned pro in 2017 when joining Greenville Swamp Rabbits when he played for just over a season before heading to Denmark for the 2018-19 season with Frederikshavn White Hawks.

The year after and it was off to China to play in the VHL for Beijing with ORG.

2020-21 saw a split season between France (Chamonix) and Germany, where he helped Bietgheim Steelers get promoted from the DEL2 to the DEL, where he remained for a further two seasons in Germany until a move to Czechia with Mountfield HK.

Last season it was Austria and 23 points in 46 games for Vianna Capitals.

“I guess I like to travel” said Evan “and I can’t wait to get to the UK and spend the next two seasons with the Steelers.

“I was instantly impressed when Aaron Fox reached out to me, I loved the communication and all that he told me about the club.

“What really drove me to Sheffield was the championship culture. The team, the fans, they expect trophies and for the team to have successful seasons. I wanted to be a part of a winning franchise who has nothing but the highest expectations, and to help the team trophy hunt over the next 2 seasons.

“I spoke with Danial Ciampini and he told me how well players were treated by the club, the fans and the city. In the end it wasn’t a difficult decision at all to come and be part of what is this great club”.

When asked what he thought he would bring to the Steelers Jasper replied “I bring speed, I hope I bring offence and be a good scorer for the team. I’m an experienced player so I hope some of that rubs off as well”.

Head coach Aaron Fox said “Evan is a dynamic offensive player who has put up real solid numbers in some top European leagues.

“He will slot into a top 6 role and give us some real goal scoring ability.  Evan skates well and competes hard and is willing to get to the paint.

“I know he can play all 3 Forward positions and has played on the PP and PK wherever he’s been. I think his game will translate very well here”.
