Tansey’s Steelers 3-0 Victors Over the Storm

Shut-Out for Greenfield as Steelers March On against the Storm.

Shorthanded Steelers, with the GB 4, marched on with a 3-0 victory over the Manchester Storm.

Wearing the “C” for the first time, Kevin Tansey led the way, not only scoring but leading the team to a convincing victory. Matt Greenfield recorded his 9th shut out of the season

The Steelers GB had a good night as well with Robert Dowd scoring a hat trick with single strikes to Cole Shudra, Brandon Whistle and Sam Jones in the 11-0 beating of Serbia

Line Up Changes

With the GB 4 missing and Angus Laing injured, Steelers drafted in former captain Jonathan Phillips, Sam Cooper and Daniel Crowe from the Steeldogs.

All three received a massive reception with the cheer of the night for the Phillips return.

Period 1.

Steelers laid the groundworks to victory with a 2-0 period and goals from Patrick Watling and Kevin Tansey

Steelers weren’t quick out of the gates and Matt Greenfield made a couple of big saves before the opening goal.

13.35 when Patrick Watling opened the scoring with assists to both Josh Nicholls and Patrick Harper.

Despite constant pressure, Steelers were struggling to add to their lead thanks to the goaltending of Evan Wenninger in the Storm goal as he denied multiple raids on his goal.

19.51 and Steelers finally broke through with a solo effort from Kevin Tansey as he leaked and then backhanded past Wenninger to double the advantage before the break.

Second Period

21.52 and Juusola off for interference giving the Storm the chance on the power-play

25.21 and Stephen Johnson sent to the bin for hooking – Steelers time on the power-play

Both penalties were killed and Steelers remained in control.

26.06 Steelers make it 3-0 as Ciampini scores from close range and a dominant spell from him and his line mates (assists to Saucerman and Vallerand)

Third Period

A scoreless final period with Steelers in total command.

Storm did have a chance on the power-play when at 43.52 Brien Diffley was sent to the box for holding the stick, Steelers killed and it was enough to see out the game victorious.

Matt Greenfield rounded off his shut out and man of the match performance with a couple of late saves but the Steelers waggon keeps rolling

Final Score: Steelers 3-0 Manchester Storm.
